Mijeong Field was born in Seoul, Korea, and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Professional Architecture from the Illinois Institute of Technology, and an Associates Degree in Fine Art from the College of DuPage.
She lives and creates works in home studios located in Chicago, Il and Busan, Korea. She presented the solo exhibitions “Traces, at the Insa Art Center in Seoul and “Butterfly, Let’s Go into the Blue Mountains” at the Busan International Art Fair, BEXCO, Busan, Korea.
artist statement
The artist's architectural background and expression through creative spatial compositions are what make her work unique. In her work, she says, “I envision a warm space that makes me one with nature and lets in light. I want to explore the memories created while traveling through time in this space, with the constantly wriggling and changing emotions of the moment.”
The artist is mainly inspired by the infinite complexity of nature. The works endeavor to leave traces of the combined sense of the deep unconscious communion with space and the artist's ever-changing thoughts and feelings. This free expression is enhanced by using various materials borrowed from nature, interspersing these with conventional paints. Watercolor and ink pigments derived from the environment include graphite from fired willow, walnuts, backyard mud, flower pedals and leaves may be combined them with egg shell powder, coral powder, etc., all a part of nature.
